Description

This minor enhancement to the EAD XML import mapping will add support for additional EAD elements on import. The improvements will reduce data loss on import, and EAD documents generated by will better match the current EAD document structure.

Deliverables
  • Import EAD finding aid author data (from <filedesc><titlestmt><author> element) into the "ISAD 3.7.1 Archivists note" field (AKA "DACS 8.1.5 Archivist and date" field; RAD and other templates have no equivalent field)
  • Import EAD finding aid copyright data (from <filedesc><titlestmt><publicationstmt> element) into the "ISAD 3.7.1 Archivists note" field in AtoM

Note: where elements are repeated (e.g. multiple <author> or <publicationstmt> elements in a single EAD document), each one will produce a separate note in the description created in AtoM, rather than concatenating into a single note. This was decided as the simplest solution (and therefore easiest to maintain going forward),and so it would be easier to clean up any accidental data imports to these fields later.
