Enable OAI repository to expose metadata based on description-specific template.
In #3981, we added the ability for a user to set the default display template for individual records (rather than only globally), to allow for better access to and representation of mixed collections, and for enhanced usability in a multi-repository environment.
In #5015, AtoM 1.x will gain the ability to allow Admin users to determine what the global default metadata template is for AtoM's OAI Repository data exposure, rather than only offering DC Simple output for harvesting.
In this feature, Admin users should be able to determine if, in addition to the global default, allow the metadata exposure for information objects to conform to the default template selected. If the user has set ISAD or RAD as the default display template, the records would be exposed via the OAI Repository in EAD. MODS and DC (simple) templates would also be available for use as a metadata schema for exposure via the OAI Repository.
In the GUI, under ADMIN > Settings > OAI Repository, a user should have an option to:
a) set the default exposure metadata schema (as added in Feature #5015), and
b) have a checkbox that will expose records in the record-specific metadata schema based on the display template if selected.
Care should be given to any wording used around b), to make the intended functionality as simple as possible. Ideally, the field would have either a tooltip or a (?) that would cause a tooltip to appear, offering further clarification and a link to the relevant documentation in the user manual.
