Description

Is this the expected behaviour? For example, in archivescanada.accesstomemory.org, a search for "U129" returns the fonds level and 6 series descriptions, but limiting to identifier just returns the fonds level. The other fields seem to allow keyword searches.

No, we should look at this - I tested and noted that searching for identifiers using wildcards and other boolean characters does not work as well. If advanced search is supposed to be a user's most powerful and granular means of finding records, then it should be flexible, and should support all searching options.

Related to this, it occurs to me that once the issues relating to reference code inheritance are dealt with, it would be worth changing the advanced search to allow search of reference codes rather than identifiers.

My recollection is that we originally used identifier instead of reference code because at the time, reference code wasn't being indexed. That has apparently changed.

Agreed Tim, this is clearly something that many users want more flexibility and control over.

Noted in user forum: searches for identifier are also case-sensitive.
