Logo larger than 50px in height will break header bar and page layout

Right now, any logo added to the AtoM header will completely break the page layout and the header bar. See attached screenshot, in which the AtoM logo has been adjusted to 75px in height.
This is a high priority fix because of the upgrades we are currently doing - right now, we are fixing them individually on each 2.x site, and we have many more sites to upgrade. We would save ourselves a lot of duplicated effort if we could solve the problem in AtoM - this would also make customization for our general users a lot simpler, as well as future theming work done both by community users and by Artefactual.
Total width of header bar should resize to fit logo height. Search box, main menu buttons, and other header bar elements should remain centered in the header bar. This will prevent upgrades with existing logos of a different size from breaking the layout, thus require less individual intervention per upgrade.
See attached mockup for fix.
