A user in the forum reported that he had to restart the pool in order to apply the changes.

^ that should work for both memcache and apc, we should make sure that it's still working for both

User reports in the forum that a simple workaround in the meantime is the clear the application cache, and restart php5-fpm. From AtoM's root directory, in your CLI, enter:

php symfony cc
sudo service php5-fpm restart
