In #5884, we added some usability tweaks to the move page, which involved cleaning up the formatting, and adding an identifier column to the search results, to help users disambiguate between similarly titled results.

However, unless the identifier of a target description is already known, it can be difficult to gain the needed context to determine what record is the correct target when search for a common name. See for example the attached screenshot - showing a search for "Correspondence" in the move search bar. Because the identifier (and not the reference code) is displayed, it is rarely unique - meaning it is not enough information on its own to disambiguate.

This ticket, based on user feedback, suggest adding 2 further columns to the search result:
  • Level Indicates the level of description of the target
  • Part of displays a hyperlink to the top-level parent description (often a fonds or collection)
Future enhancements might include:
  • Allowing different sort options
  • Allowing user to set whether the first field displays identifier or reference code (or, tying this into the Global settings for ref code inheritance)
